Bowls Unleashed!

The Bowls Australia 2018-2022 Strategic Plan has been released and is accessible via https://assets.sportstg.com/assets/console/document/documents/16A4AD27-5056-BD3F-FE4442CBC17E61B1.pdf

The document certainly provides some interesting reading as to the way ahead for bowls in Australia.

The Vision Statement states “Our Vision is for all Australians to engage with bowls during their lifetime”.

Participation is now the key. Success is no longer measured purely on the numbers of pennant players at a club. It’s all about getting people through the gate for the first time and accepting that time restrictions and changes in society and family structures may no longer enable participants to commit to long term pennant competitions. Short form games and other options are being developed by the Bowls fraternity who recognise the need for change to get people onto the greens – be is social, community, pennant or barefoot bowls. The old saying that “if you don’t give it a go – you will never know” is so true.

Why not invite your family, friends, colleagues or mates to come down for a roll up? Bowls is the only game that can be played from womb to tomb!   Enquiries for bowls or functions always welcome.  Call The Hive on 9741 3229 to have a chat. We can tailor an event for your needs.

Fantastic program for mums and bubs.  Our sessions are growing in size with 27 mums for our last session.  Due to the Easter Break, the next session is Friday 6th April 1030 to 1300.  Come and enjoy morning tea and chat before getting out on the green followed by healthy lunch option and lots more chatting.  It’s fun for all.  We love seeing so many mums and bubs @ The Hive.  Who knows – these may be the next lot of champion bowlers!

We are a community club, open to our diverse community and everyone is welcome.  Come one come all.  It’s all about new mums, bubs and mums to be. We have baby friendly facilities (change tables, play pen etc.) where you can enjoy a roll, while your babies relax right next to you!

It’s only $15 per session which includes your coffees and a light lunch.  All equipment is provided.  It’s all very casual.  It’s what works on the day for us all.  Flexibility is the name of the game!

The program is supported by VicHealth and Bowls Victoria.  Subject to interest the club is happy to extend the initial program.

Oh what a fantastic day.  Day One of the initial 4 week program we had seven new mums and bubs join us @ The Hive for lots of socialising and playing bowls.  Even the babies loved it.  They were all so good and getting out in the fresh air is great for all.  The pram brigade started arriving around 10am and the last group left around 3.15pm which is a good indication that everyone had a great day.
