Bowls Unleashed!

Bowls Australia logo 2

The Bowls Australia 2018-2022 Strategic Plan has been released and is accessible via

The document certainly provides some interesting reading as to the way ahead for bowls in Australia.

The Vision Statement states “Our Vision is for all Australians to engage with bowls during their lifetime”.

Participation is now the key. Success is no longer measured purely on the numbers of pennant players at a club. It’s all about getting people through the gate for the first time and accepting that time restrictions and changes in society and family structures may no longer enable participants to commit to long term pennant competitions. Short form games and other options are being developed by the Bowls fraternity who recognise the need for change to get people onto the greens – be is social, community, pennant or barefoot bowls. The old saying that “if you don’t give it a go – you will never know” is so true.

Why not invite your family, friends, colleagues or mates to come down for a roll up? Bowls is the only game that can be played from womb to tomb!   Enquiries for bowls or functions always welcome.  Call The Hive on 9741 3229 to have a chat. We can tailor an event for your needs.

Bowling With Babies – Friday 18/5/18

Bowling Babies in Action

The survey results from Bowls Victoria are now out which indicates that the Bowling With Babies program has been well received.  We will therefore continue to run the weekly sessions each Friday between 1000-1300.  We love our mums and bubs!

Catering – BYO lunch and enjoy the club facilities.

Non-members $10 per session / Social members free!!!

It’s only $40 to become a social member for the full year so why not join?

To assist with logistics, please book your spot via the Werribee Bowls Club Facebook Page.

Note:  The initial four week program has now concluded however, further to recent discussions with the Bowls Victoria Female Participation Project Manager Neil Gray, the club will continue hosting the “Bowling With Babies” program that runs between 1000-1300 each Friday pending the outcome of the Bowls Victoria survey.  The survey results will provide guidance on the frequency of the sessions going forward.  We are also looking to have a barefoot bowls session including partners.  Stay tuned!!!

This program will continue to allow new parents, mothers groups and mums to be to come together in a relaxed environment, share a cuppa and stories about their new bubs whilst enjoying some healthy, low impact exercise.  We’ll be there to provide some basics and get you onto the green to have some fun.  And even if it rains, you can still enjoy each others company and the club facilities.

This initiative has been implemented to reduce social isolation and also as a first step to increasing female participation in our sport. Increased exposure may provide new bowlers – be it social, barefoot or pennant but will also allow members of the public to see what facilities our club has to offer for possible event hire. It’s a Win/Win all round.

We trust that all members and the community will support  this fantastic initiative.  You are welcome to come to one or all of the sessions.  It’s up to you.

Details of the initial program are available via

To assist with catering and logistics, bookings are now to be made via the club on 9741 3229 rather than Bowls Victoria.
