Health & Mobility – Bowlers Arm Event

Sunday 19th – Another great day @ The Hive where we had 48 players from North, South, East and West competing in the Bowlers Arm 2 bowl triples tournament  sponsored by Health & Mobility. We had teams from as far as Yallourn, Cranbourne, Bendigo, Belmont and Rosamond and lots from in between. A most enjoyable  day was had by all.

The oldest bowler was our own Maurie Weston who is 97 years young. It is testament to the bowlers arm that both the aged and those with a disability are still able to enjoy their games. We are all so fortunate that with the aid of our bowlers arm we are still able to get out onto the green and enjoy both competing and socialising with friends.

Coaching in the use of the arm is available @ The Hive.  Anyone interested in bowling with the aid of an arm is welcome to contact the club on 9741 3229.

Check out the Health & Mobility website for your needs be it, health wise or  for your bowling equipment.

The Hive Rocks – 40th Birthday & Bucks Party!

Oh what a fab day.  Yesterday we had a family group celebrating a 40th with barefoot bowls and BBQ and a bucks party.    The Hive is an ideal venue for such celebrations as we can accommodate toddlers to adults on the greens.  The kids always love the Junior Jack Attack games which are set up on adjoining green using soft bowls making it easy for parents to supervise whilst enjoying the outdoor setting and facilities.

Just letting the bride to be know that all of  the boys behaved themselves and the groom came away with some worldly advice from an “old sheila”.  Words of wisdom from someone who has been married 46 years :  “Your wife is always right no matter what and provided you do what she says, when she says and how she says there won’t ever be any issues.  It’s only when you buck the system that there will be issues”.  Congratulations to you both.  May your lives be full of happiness.

Jr. Jack Attack – Bringing Bowls To Kids!

Lawn Bowls

Fab day today introducing Grade 3 students at Werribee Primary School to the sport of lawn bowls utilising our Junior Jack Attack Kit.  Thanks Paul Holtschke, our Regional Bowls Manager from Bowls Australia for such a fun day.  We all had a ball – the kids, teachers, Trish and myself.  Looking forward to meeting the Grade 4 students Wednesday.  Young children are the key to the future of bowls!  Well done kids.  Hopefully we will see some of the kids @ The Hive in 2018 for the Sporting Schools Metro West competition in March.
