Bowling With Babies – Update

Bowling with Babies

BWB Werribee poster updated

Bowling With Babies is Happening – Fridays 23 February, 2,9 & 16 March from 1030-1200.

Bowls Victoria in partnership with VicHealth and thanks to funding from the Active Women and Girls for Health and Wellbeing program launched an exciting new project this season – Mums on the Green. Our first program under that umbrella is Bowling with Babies.

Bowling with Babies is a participation program designed for and exclusive to new and expecting mums of all skill levels.

Bowling with Babies provides a safe, comfortable environment for new mums to get out of the house, meet other mums, enjoy a gentle game of bowls and coffee. The family friendly environment of bowls clubs is a perfect location for a non-competitive physical activity specifically designed to fit the needs of new mums.

The program has been an immediate success with nearly 100 mums and bubs taking part across three weeks at four of our member clubs.

Attend as many sessions as you like!   In fact, new bowlers are welcome @ The Hive at any time!  We have a great facility located along the picturesque banks of the Werribee River.

Girls On The Green At The Hive.jpg

Another fab night @ The Hive.  More great people.  Rinks full of visitors having lots of fun and giggles whilst getting down a few mean bowls in between.  Who on earth said that “bowls is only for old people”.  No way.    What the hell?  Check out these chicks who found the green enticing in more than one way!  Go the girls!

Hope to see you all at our “Girls On The Green” Program in February/March with light lunch and bowls provided free of charge thanks to a generous grant from WyndhamCity  Council.  Open to all females – we want to get you out on the green to enjoy the fun experience of lawn bowls.

Keep the following dates free:

Thursdays –  22 February, 1, 8 & 15 March – 1030-1230

Sundays – 11 & 25 February plus 11 March – 1230-1430

Health & Mobility – Bowlers Arm Event

Sunday 19th – Another great day @ The Hive where we had 48 players from North, South, East and West competing in the Bowlers Arm 2 bowl triples tournament  sponsored by Health & Mobility. We had teams from as far as Yallourn, Cranbourne, Bendigo, Belmont and Rosamond and lots from in between. A most enjoyable  day was had by all.

The oldest bowler was our own Maurie Weston who is 97 years young. It is testament to the bowlers arm that both the aged and those with a disability are still able to enjoy their games. We are all so fortunate that with the aid of our bowlers arm we are still able to get out onto the green and enjoy both competing and socialising with friends.

Coaching in the use of the arm is available @ The Hive.  Anyone interested in bowling with the aid of an arm is welcome to contact the club on 9741 3229.

Check out the Health & Mobility website for your needs be it, health wise or  for your bowling equipment.
